Advisor, Asset Management 

Corporate Services- Business Financial Planning 

Status: Contract Full Time; 13 month duration

Salary Range: $100,172-$125,213 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Asset management is an integrated approach, involving all of our departments to effectively manage existing and new assets to deliver services to customers. The intent is to maximize benefits, reduce risks and provide satisfactory levels of service to the community in a sustainable manner – providing an optimum balance.

 

What you will do in this role: 

 

The Strategy Advisor is primarily responsible to promote, implement and update the Region of Peel’s Corporate Asset Management Strategy. The incumbent must apply their specialized and expert knowledge of asset management and Peel’s Corporate Asset Management Strategy in an appropriate manner to accurately assess the state of Peel’s infrastructure and infrastructure requirements to meet service delivery objectives. The Advisor is also responsible to continually assess the relevance of the various tools, processes, methodologies and reporting practices under Peel’s asset management strategy and implement changes as necessary to reflect the changing dynamics of Peel’s environment, services and business practices.

 

The incumbent must carry out their duties in consultation with numerous stakeholders, employing highly advanced communication, negotiation and facilitation skills. To be successful, the incumbent must have strong initiative and communication skills, capable of working independently, adaptable, flexible, tactful and capable of working well with people in challenging situations. Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure and finance is necessary.

 

This work also involves several key responsibilities: establishing or revising criteria for asset condition and performance; evaluating asset risks and determining their potential impact on service delivery; refining strategies and methodologies related to asset management, risk assessment, and asset life cycles; analyzing complex data and reports to make recommendations that can influence strategic directions or services and defining the scope and terms of reference for studies and projects.

 

What the role requires: 

  • Must possess a professional designation in Engineering and/or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Excellent knowledge of asset management principles and practices
  • Highly knowledgeable in municipal infrastructure, infrastructure planning and its operations
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Advanced knowledge of municipal financing
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Project

In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

 

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
