Specialist Paramedic Culture and Process Innovation

Health Services- Paramedic Services

Status: Regular Full Time

Salary Range: $89,469 - $111,834 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Work Mode: Hybrid* 2-3 days per week on site, based on operational needs *see below for more details about this work mode. 

 

Location: 1600 Bovaird Dr E, Brampton, ON

Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Performance, this position works collaboratively with internal clients and stakeholders to lead the development, integration and acceptance of the Collaborative Culture of Safety framework

 

What you will do in this role: 

  • Provide expert advice on Collaborative Culture of Safety, process improvement, and organizational culture
  • Facilitate working groups through project initiatives
  • Ensure Collaborative Culture of Safety projects use a psychological health and safety lens throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensure Collaborative Culture of Safety concepts and principles are applied to Paramedic Services programs
  • Plans, measures and evaluates activities related to the implementation of Collaborative Culture of Safety and ongoing PRPS system/process improvement initiatives, including strategy, planning, performance measurement/monitoring, evaluation efforts
  • Conducts current state analysis, develop vision and change management process for strategic priorities and initiatives, aligning with Collaborative Culture and system improvements
  • Leads process improvement initiatives, assessing processes and practices and recommending improvements to improve initiative effectiveness and impact
  • Maintains an expert knowledge of the literature and establishes a network of industry-related peers for exploring best practices related to Collaborative Culture of Safety and system improvement activities through literature reviews, contacts with other organizations, attendance at seminars and workshops
  • Supports research, development and implementation of psychological health and safety programming that supports mental health and wellness in Paramedic Services and family members of PRPS staff, including providing input to the development of policies and standard operating procedures ensuring a psychological health and safety lens is applied
  • Applies change management principles, methodologies and change tactics, including use of communication tools to support implementation of initiatives
  • Builds and maintains cooperative, collaborative and strategic relationships with internal customers, corporate and external stakeholders. This can be achieved by:
    • Liaising with internal (PRPS) partners, and advising on strategies for collaboration
    • Creating partnerships with internal staff outside of Paramedic Services to ensure PRSP programs are aligned to corporate programs
    • Engaging in partnerships for resource and information sharing purposes; participate in special projects, task forces and other activities
    • Providing support and coaching for Paramedic Services staff related to Collaborative Culture of Safety implementation
    • Leading working groups and committees 

What the role requires: 

  • University degree or equivalent experience in a health-related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related and progressive experience in hazard recognition or risk mitigation. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience in evidence informed decision-making methodology, including ability to synthesize, evaluate and integrate information from multiple sources, and to provide recommendations
  • Experience working in a project environment with sound knowledge of project management methods and practice
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Travel within the Region of Peel may be required

  • Strong oral and written communication and facilitation skills with ability to present information effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent facilitation skills with sound knowledge of various facilitation techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, build trust, provide coaching, facilitate change and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent problem solver with the ability to formulate effective approaches to program and policy development and quality improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within an interdisciplinary team setting and across organizational boundaries, including a variety of management levels and corporate, community and provincial stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, independently and under stressful conditions
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 1600 Bovaird Dr E, Brampton, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

 

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
