Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Analyst

Public Works – Transportation

Contract Full-Time; 9 weeks

Salary Band: $76,054 - $95,068 per annum

 

Work Mode: Hybrid (Minimum 1 day onsite weekly, which may increase based on operational requirements)

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of Work: 35 hours/week

 

Who we are:

The Transportation Operations team at the Region of Peel is responsible for managing and improving traffic flow, safety, and transportation infrastructure within Peel Region. Our team focuses on a broad range of activities including traffic signal management, signage, road safety, implementation of traffic calming measures, and the coordination of construction projects to minimize their impact on traffic.

 

Position overview:

The Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Analyst develops, manages, coordinates and implements transportation programs/studies/services to foster a sustainable transportation system in Peel Region. The TDM Analyst works collaboratively with both the public and private sectors to improve mobility and establish sustainable transportation options by managing travel demand, promoting environmental, health and financial gains of using sustainable modes of transportation.

 

What you will do in this role:

  • Respond to written, telephone and counter requests for information from other departments, consultants, other government and non-government, and the public.
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations to Council as well as giving presentations to or responding to questions from members of Council.
  • Provide comments on the transportation elements of area municipal transportation master plan, regional and local official plan amendments, rezoning application, local secondary plans, block plan, plan of subdivision, site plan, transportation impact studies, Provincial Plans, and GTHA wide intra-regional planning initiatives.
  • Perform formal public consultations and presentations on Regional Transportation Planning and TDM related matters.
  • Undertake analysis on specific components of Transportation and TDM projects.
  • Develop and implement, under the guidance of the Manager of Transportation Operations, Transportation and TDM projects and programs.
  • Represent the department on working committees and technical advisory teams.
  • Provide direction and allocate work to administrative staff, contract staff, and summer and co-op students.

What we require:

  • A master’s degree or a four-year honors university degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Business/Marketing or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in planning, engineering, marketing/promotion and/or environmental studies position is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Regional Official Plan and the Local Official Plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of transportation planning and modeling principals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Provincial, GTHA, Regional and local planning issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Provincial, GTA, Regional, and local transportation planning issues.
  • Membership or eligibility for licensure/registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario or Ontario Professional Planners Institute is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Well developed communications, analytical, problem solving, project management and computer skills are required.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

 

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.

 

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week.
