Job Description

Coordinator, Equipment and Supplies

Health Services, Paramedic Services

Status:  Contract Full Time, 15 months

Salary Range:  $67,772 - $84,714 per annum + comprehensive benefits 

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:  Fernforest Paramedic Station, 1600 Bovaird Dr E, Brampton, ON

Hours of work: 35 per week

 

 

Who we are:   Peel Paramedics provide out-of-hospital medical care and outreach to our community.  The Coordinator, Equipment and Supplies reports to the Supervisor, Fleet, Equipment and Supplies, and is responsible for various aspects related to materials management including contract administration, procurement and distribution to ensure compliance with Provincial Acts and Regulations, Municipal By-laws, Regional Policies and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) certification standards. 

 

What you will do in this role:

  • Procure equipment and supplies to maintain established inventory levels
  • Manage supply/service contracts and maintain positive vendor relations to ensure stakeholders meet or exceed their contractual obligations and those of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care vehicle and equipment standards
  • Coordinate vendor returns
  • Assist with developing product and equipment specifications in preparation for tender/contract, purchase order development and implementation by the Supervisor
  • Monitor and coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs with internal and external stakeholders
  • Follow-up/expedite goods ordered
  • Monitor/report vendor and product performance
  • Coordinate the distribution of supplies and equipment to various locations/personnel
  • Perform inventory audits and assist with their reconciliations
  • Coordinate product field trails and new product rollouts
  • Track product movement through inventory management system
  • Responsible for monthly p-card reconciliation of own purchases
  • Respond to requests/concerns on product and supply matters
  • Assist in developing information and work flow processes and controls to improve the Section’s operational efficiencies and customer service
  • Assist the Logistics Section with projects including research, preparation of data, implementation strategies, communication and offer feedback for improvement as well as coordination of findings
  • Coordinate product requests from Tiered Response Equipment members in conjunction with municipal fire services
  • Liaise with supply vendors and other maintenance providers and service operators
  • Liaise with industry peers for information exchange
  • Coordinate Base hospital acquisitions

What the role requires:

 

  • College diploma in business, supply chain management or purchasing
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct work experience in procuring goods and services as well as managing vendor relations
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities

 

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills and time management capabilities
  • Superior negotiation skills and use of appropriate tactics
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and manage changing priorities
  • Exercises considerable judgment, tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature
  • Self-motivated and able to act on own initiative, within the scope of the position’s responsibilities, using good judgment and discretion
  • Superior attention to detail
