Corporate Services- Climate Change and Energy Management 

 

Status: (1) Regular Full Time

Salary Range: $76,054 - $95,068 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Work Mode: Hybrid i.e. 1-2 days in office or as per operational requirement *see below for more details about this work mode.

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

 

 

Who we are:  The Office of Climate Change and Energy Management (OCCEM) has the lead role in enabling the Region of Peel to respond to climate change to create a low-carbon, resilient Community for Life, through principles of shared-leadership, balance, transparency and innovation.

 

OCCEM provides the expertise, knowledge, strategy and tools to enable regional services and community partners to embed climate change and energy management principles into practice while achieving divisional goals and organizational outcomes.

We are seeking a dynamic professional to collaborate with our dedicated team of Climate Change and Energy Management (CCEM) Advisors, alongside external contractors and consultants, to spearhead transformative energy management projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Coordination: Manage relationships with clients and vendors while streamlining the procurement process for maximum efficiency.
  • Informed Research & Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and review vital documentation and legislation, creating insightful reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Engagement & Facilitation: Lead meetings with teams and key stakeholders to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on initiatives.
  • Communication Champion: Develop and disseminate communication materials, including newsletters and project updates, to keep clients informed and engaged.
  • Insightful Analysis: Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the specialized field of climate change and energy management through comprehensive research and energy consumption analysis.
  • Impact Assessment: Conduct thorough pre- and post-retrofit evaluations to measure the success of energy conservation efforts against targeted savings.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Build strong relationships with client programs to fully understand their processes and operations, ensuring tailored support.
  • Expert Guidance: Provide interpretation and advice on relevant energy legislation and regulations, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Cost Management Oversight: Monitor capital expenditures and deliver regular financial updates to maintain budgetary integrity.
  • Catalyst for Change: Act as a change agent in climate action, engaging internal and external stakeholders to drive progress and innovation.

What the role requires: 

  • A university degree or a specialized college diploma in a related technical discipline, or in another relevant discipline such as environmental studies, , project management or purchasing
  • Five years of related experience
  • Knowledge of contract administration and project development
  • General understanding of design and construction standards
  • General knowledge of climate change and energy management
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered 

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Project leadership, organizational and time management skills
  • Proven excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Negotiation, motivation, facilitation, conflict resolution and team-building skills
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software applications (Microsoft Project)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

 

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
