Paramedic Recruitment 

 

Primary and Advanced Care Paramedics

Up to 100 Temporary Part-Time and Full-Time positions
Rate of Pay

Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) - $40.92/hr - $43.47/hr
Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) - $45.84/hr - $48.69/hr
In Lieu of Benefits
14% payable on all hours worked immediately upon hire

4% in lieu vacation pay 

Hours of Work
Days, Peaks, Nights (12-hour shifts) - up to forty-two (42) hours per week. Flexible part-time schedules, and long/short-term full-time assignments following platoon rotations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified to work as a paramedic in Ontario as per the Ambulance Act (https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/90a19)
  • Diploma in Ambulance and Emergency Care OR graduate from an approved Ontario Primary Care Paramedic training program
  • Ministry of Health A-EMCA certification (or A-EMCA pending) or Equivalency Certificate
  • Applicants for an Advanced Care Paramedic position MUST be currently certified, active and in good standing with an approved Ontario Base Hospital Program
  • Valid Ontario Class “F” license OR equivalent that meets the requirements of the Ambulance Act
  • Applicants must hold a successful Ottawa Paramedic Physical Abilities Test (OPPAT) or Ontario Paramedic Lifting Evaluation (OPLE). Physical assessment must be completed no earlier than September 10, 2024.   • Applicants must provide proof of immunization against communicable diseases, along with proof of immunity via serology completed in the year of hire, as required by clause 6(1)(h) of O. Reg. 257/00 under the Ambulance Act
  • Paramedics who are currently certified and working for at least 2 years in another service in Ontario may be eligible to bypass certain stages of hiring, such as the written exam, scenarios, and/or the driving test. Instead of completing these stages, candidates will be asked to complete a pre-employment assessment through Casper
