Co-op Student – Utility Coordinator Assistant (Civil Engineering)

Public Works – Operations Support – Engineering Technical Services

Contract Full-Time; 12 Months (May 05, 2025 – April 30, 2026)

Hourly Rate: $23.05/hour

 

Work Mode: On-site

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of work: 35 Hours per week

 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program or closely related field of study.
  • Requires access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada for the full duration of the 12-month term.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor of CAD Services, you will be assisting with tracking and coordinating Regional comments for all applications submitted through the Public Utilities Coordinating Committee (PUCC). You will assist with review of PUCC applications and drawings against established criteria using CAD and GIS software (Microstation/ArcGIS).  You will assist with responding to all encroachment circulations on the Region’s Right-of- way or infrastructure and attend (virtually)/ assist the PUCC Coordinator at PUCC meetings. You will utilize Hansen software to monitor PUCC applications and liaise with internal and external contacts as required.

         

What you will do in this role:

  • Provides technical support to the Supervisor of CAD.
  • Provides technical review of PUCC applications.
  • Provides overall co-ordination and tracking for all incoming and outgoing PUCC applications.
  • Represents the Region of Peel as a member of the PUCC Committee.
  • Oversees the activities of the approval process for PUCC applications.
  • Promotes and supports an environment of continuous improvement and quality service.

What the role requires:

  • Must have a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be eligible to work for the full 12-month term.
  • Must be enrolled in Civil Engineering or similar equivalent school co-op program.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills to liaise with internal and external customers.
  • Good organizational, administrative and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD and GIS software (MicroStation/ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting construction drawings.
