Future Opportunities - Transportation Project Manager (Infrastructure Programming and Asset Management)

Salary range: $103,177 - $128,969 per annum

Work mode: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON

Hours of work: 35 Hours per week 

 

The role:

Are you a skilled project manager with a passion for shaping the future of transportation infrastructure? We are proactively seeking dynamic professionals for future opportunities as Transportation Project Managers. These roles will lead complex projects focused on infrastructure programming and asset management.

 

In this position, you would drive impactful projects like State of Good Repair strategies, risk assessments, and feasibility studies for transportation infrastructure and stormwater systems. Your leadership will be key in developing capital plans, guiding project teams, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. What you’ll do

  • Manage large, complex projects related to transportation infrastructure, including State of Good Repair Strategy for Capital Projects, complex feasibility studies, and transportation infrastructure risk assessment studies.
  • Lead Risk Assessments, State of Good Repair capital plans and strategies, and feasibility studies related to Peel’s transportation infrastructure and stormwater conveyance in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments of the Peel’s transportation and stormwater systems to identify critical assets and potential threats.
  • Complete feasibility studies on transportation assets (roads, structures, stormwater) in support of asset management and program delivery.
  • Develop and maintain lifecycle and deterioration curves for transportation assets based on industry research and Peel-specific data.
  • Ensure projects align with Corporate Project Management Methodology (CPMM) and oversee project charters, terms of reference, scopes, and deliverables.
  • Develop and prepare tender documents, RFPs, and quotes for projects, as well as evaluate bid submissions.
  • Track project financials, negotiate scope changes, and minimize financial risk while maintaining quality and schedule.
  • Supervise consultants, develop communication plans for public/council, and collaborate with approval agencies (MOE, MNR, CA, Utilities, Landowners, DFO, etc.).
  • Provide technical input and support in developing and applying the Region’s asset management system to assess infrastructure renewal needs and develop capital plans.
  • Provide comments on secondary plans, official plan amendments, district plans, EAs, and servicing studies.
  • Collaborate extensively with Area Municipalities and external utilities (telephone, gas, hydro, roads, etc.).
  • Respond to internal clients and consumer inquiries. 

What we require:

  • Professional Engineer Designation.
  • University degree in Civil Engineering with 5 years of relevant project management experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong technical knowledge of transportation infrastructure and related assets. (structures, roads and stormwater)
  • Leadership and project management skills to lead project teams in development of project scope, financials, deliverables and management of consultants.
  • Collaboration skills to work with approval agencies and achieve consensus on project components/recommendations.
  • The ability to interpret and understand technical data related to project preliminary design, infrastructure conditions, asset life cycle. 

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present project recommendations to senior management, Council, approval agencies, and at public meetings
  • Problem-solving skills to evaluate stakeholder input, technical feasibility, and cost-effective solutions
  • Ability to delegate work and distribute tasks among project teams
  • Familiarity with NASSCO PACP Condition Grading System, ArcGIS, and Maximo (considered an asset)
  • Knowledge of CADD and general engineering drafting principles
  • Ability to coordinate logistics and develop short- and long-term strategies for project deliverables
