Status: (1) Regular Full Time 

Salary Range: $92,153 - $115,189 per annum + comprehensive benefits

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of work: 35 hours per week

 

 

Who we are:  The Content and Social Media team plan, manage and execute video projects, optimizing video content for Peel’s digital and social media channels to drive engagement and awareness, building trust and confidence with the public.

 

What you will do in this role:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to create engaging video content for all Peel platforms, from ideation to production.
  • Develop videos that enhance the Peel Region brand, staying true to the Masterbrand guidelines.
  • Advise on video project feasibility, trends, and social media strategies.
  • Work with Content & Social Media teams to plan and execute video and social media projects.
  • Source innovative tools and solutions to create videos aligned with current trends.
  • Collaborate with design teams to produce thumbnails, graphics, and other visual elements.
  • Manage all aspects of video shoots, including directing, lighting, audio, and on-camera talent.
  • Ensure videos comply with visual identity, accessibility standards, and copyright laws.
  • Oversee video distribution across platforms and manage Peel's YouTube presence.
  • Track video performance on YouTube, providing regular reports and optimizing content for search.
  • Offer leadership during video production and on-camera performance, while resolving any production issues.
  • Network with industry professionals to stay ahead of video trends and best practices.

What the role requires:  

  • University degree or college diploma in video production or a related field
  • Three to five years of experience in video, television or film production
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to travel with access to reliable transportation
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • video editing fundamentals and visual communication techniques
    • Adobe creative suite of programs (Premier, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop)
    • video production techniques and camera control
    • on-location audio recording and wireless audio configuration
    • lighting control techniques and grip equipment
    • video sharing sites and integrated social media features
    • search engine optimization and video analytics
    • web applications and search engine technology specific to digital media
    • installation and maintenance of workstation-class computer hardware, operating systems and application software

Skills/Abilities

  • Troubleshooting hardware or software issues quickly
  • Ability to organize and handle large volumes of digital data
  • Excellent design sense and writing/editing skills specific to video
  • Skilled in providing constructive feedback and coaching to senior staff, including the CAO, Commissioners, and Regional Councillors, with confidence, tact, and professionalism.
  • Capable of translating verbal or written information into clear, effective visual content.
  • Quick integration of crucial details needed for understanding a project/issue
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of information architecture and web design principles

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
