As the Director of Care (DOC), you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional resident-centered care. Reporting to the Administrator, you will lead a dedicated nursing team, ensuring compliance with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care standards, and fostering a culture of excellence, compassion, and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Management: Recruit, mentor, and supervise nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Resident Care: Ensure individualized care plans are developed and implemented, promoting residents' physical and emotional well-being.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Maintain adherence to all legislative requirements, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, and oversee quality improvement initiatives.
Collaboration: Engage with interdisciplinary teams, families, and external partners to enhance care delivery and resident satisfaction.
Education & Development: Promote ongoing staff education and professional development to ensure best practices in gerontological nursing.
Budgeting & Resource Management: Participate in budget planning and manage resources effectively to ensure optimal care delivery.
Integrated Care Partnerships: Collaborate with the Seniors Services Development team and various community partners to facilitate integrated care through purposeful internal and external collaborations. This approach aims to improve coordination of services, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen community partnerships, thereby building a more resilient healthcare system and enhancing the quality of life for seniors.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A diploma in Long-Term Care Administration is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role within a long-term care setting.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and long-term care software systems.
Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of gerontological nursing, relevant legislation, and best practices in long-term care.
