Public Works - Water and Wastewater; Operations
Status: Contract Full Time - 24 Month Duration
Salary Range: $92,153 to $115,189 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual)

Hours of work: 35 Hours per week; expectation to participate in standby rotation

Who we are: Water & Wastewater Operations is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the linear distribution and collection systems and our communal wastewater treatment plant and wells. The team is also responsible for the oversight of the operations and optimization at our large water and wastewater treatment facilities. The team also looks after the administration and enforcement of the water, wastewater and backflow bylaws. The CCTV team completes condition assessment of all sanitary sewers. Our business support team focuses on continual improvement initiatives and contract administration for the whole operations team.
Reports to: Supervisor of Water/Waste Water Operations
Team Structure: In this role you will lead a team of 8 Technical Analysts.
What you will do in this role: The Team Lead is responsible for the supervision of the Technical Analyst team that provide technical and analytical support to the Manager, Supervisors and Forepersons in Water and Wastewater Linear and Groundwater Operations.
Receives and analyzes metrics and Key Performance Indicators from the Business Support section using data that is both measurable and meaningful for assessing the extent to which objectives are achieved and where areas for development are identified.
Develops, supervises, and reports on budgets related to team activities.
Assists with the creation of communication materials related to performance data in order to heighten accountability and aid in the circulation of information to internal stakeholders of the W/WW team.
Participates on internal and inter-departmental committees and/or teams as required.
Develops collaborative working relationships within the entire Water and Wastewater Operations Division.
What the role requires:
Post secondary education in a science or business program with a minimum of five (5) years related work experience
Level 2 Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Wastewater Collection License and a Level 1 MECP Water Distribution Certificate or Level 2 Water Distribution Certificate and a Level 1 Wastewater Collection License
Sound knowledge of water and wastewater systems and related appurtenances and equipment
Strong computer skills in MS Office and CMMS systems such as Hansen or Maximo, Granite and GIS systems
Skills/Abilities:
Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to respond with tack and diplomacy.
Superior customer service and interpersonal skills with an ability to develop collaborative partnerships with internal and external contacts.
Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, planning, administrative and financial skills.
Proven presentation skills, including the ability to present to various internal and external audiences.
Superior organizational and time management skills.
