Health Promoter - Oral Health Team
Health Services – Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention

Status:
Contract Full-Time (12 Months)
Salary Range: $78,336 - $97,920 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)
Work Mode: Hybrid* (see below for more details)
Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON, L5W 1N4
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Are you passionate about improving the health and well-being of children and youth in Peel? The Oral Health team within the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention division is looking for a dynamic professional to support the Healthy Smiles Ontario program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead health promotion initiatives, develop policies, and collaborate with community partners to enhance oral health outcomes. What You’ll Do in This Role:

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs, policies, and strategies
  • Analyze and interpret data to provide recommendations for policy and program development
  • Conduct community needs assessments and situational analyses to inform initiatives
  • Create written and visual communication materials, including social media posts, presentations, and website content
  • Develop knowledge translation products for diverse stakeholders, including children, parents, seniors, community partners, and government organizations
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support community health initiatives
  • Advocate for health equity by ensuring diversity and inclusion considerations in health promotion efforts
  • Apply public health principles, including epidemiology and the social determinants of health, to program planning and implementation

What You Bring to the Role:

 

Education & Experience:

  • University degree in a relevant health-related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Strong understanding of public health principles, research methods, and policy analysis
  • Knowledge of publicly funded dental programs in Ontario and dental practices in the province
  • Experience in Oral Health would be an asset

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to assess data and program effectiveness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, facilitation, and stakeholder collaboration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio) and experience with social media platforms (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

 

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
