Job Description

Project Manager, Business Strategies & Improvement Initiatives  

Public Works, Water & Wastewater 

Status: (1) Regular Full Time & (1) Contract Full Time - 24 months  

Salary Range: $103,177 - $128,969 per annum  (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable)

Location:10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton, ON 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week 

 

 

Who we are:  In support of the Water and Wastewater Division achieving its vision of Clean Water for Life, this position will participate in the development of the division and lead the implementation of key strategic priorities.

Reports to: Manager, Business Strategies and Continual Improvement

 

What you will do in this role: 

  • Manages and coordinates projects including preparation of Expression of Interest, Request for Proposals, tenders; evaluation of submissions, consultant progress and deliverable submissions; and development of project plans, work schedules and determination of priorities
  • Provide expertise, advice and guidance to the Water and Wastewater Divisions programs and services and implementation of improvements and programs;
  • Conducts research on wastewater industry best practices and analyse data to make recommendations for improving business and operational processes and new programs
  • Work on projects related to Quality Control and Quality Assurance
  • Develop and deliver departmental reports related to Water and Wastewater best practices
  • Identifies and coordinates all operational elements (including budgets and resources)
  • Facilitates meetings and prepares and delivers presentations and reports to director, manager, project teams and to divisional meetings as required
  • Evaluates and reviews current policies, practices and programs
  • Manages techniques for effective integration of programs across the division, department or Corporation as appropriate

What the role requires: 

  • A relevant university/college degree/diploma in Engineering or Environmental Studies, Business Administration
  • 5 years of experience in a Public Works or Municipal Government Environment
  • Proficiency and strong knowledge of water and wastewater systems
  • Proficiency in change management methodologies
  • Experience reporting from a quality programming framework
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong report writing skills
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
  • Facilitation experience with a skillset to lead engaging presentations
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

 

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
