Technical Analyst, Outreach and Education

Public Works – Operations Support

1 Short Term Contract Full-Time Position, duration 8 months

Salary Range: $78,336 - $97,920 per annum

Hiring Range: $78,336 - $88,128 per annum

Location: 2 Copper Road, Brampton

Hours of Work: 35 Hours per week

 

The Role:

This position focuses on supporting Public Outreach & Education’s programs including Water/Wastewater treatment plant tours, school workshops, external contract management, SOP video development, online resource development, school newsletters, Arthur P. Kennedy Treatment Plant open houses, awareness campaigns and public events including the Peel Children’s Water Festival and community events. The role supports Public Works client groups including Water/Wastewater, Transportation and Waste Management.

In this role you will:

  • Provide specialized guidance and advice in the development, implementation and evaluation of new education and outreach initiatives to support Public Works priorities.
  • Compile, analyze, and monitor data to assess the performance and effectiveness of education and outreach programs and make programming recommendations.
  • Conduct research, edit and write audience appropriate content.
  • Provide specialized guidance and advice in the research, development, implementation and evaluation of education and outreach programs and awareness campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to support the goals of the Education and Outreach Strategy.
  • Provide training and guidance to co-op students to assist with program development and implementation.
  • Participate in community outreach and special events such as fairs, home shows, and the Peel Children’s Water Festival.
  • Represent the Region on various internal and external committees.
  • Work with Communication Services to co-ordinate the design and creation of education and outreach related resources and materials.

Specific Projects/Programs:

  • The role supports Public Works client groups including Transportation, Waste Management, Water and Wastewater
  • Programs include Public Works awareness campaigns, external contract management, development of school programs and resources, support with Water/Wastewater treatment plant tours, school workshops, the Peel Children's Water Festival and community events

What the role requires:

  • University degree or technical diploma with relevant studies in science, environment, engineering or related field, with at least three years of combined relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of water, wastewater, waste management and transportation programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven customer service and public relations skills.
  • Experience coordinating and overseeing projects or programs.
  • Experience instructing in a classroom setting or delivering community presentations would be an asset.
  • Strong research and report writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills, utilizing MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid G Class driver’s license.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of the Ontario School Curriculum
  • Experience working with students

Work Mode: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
