Manager, Internal Investigations  

Human Resources, Corporate Services  

Status: Regular Full Time

Salary Range: $120,401 - $150,501 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable) 

Hire Range: $120,401 - $135,451 per annum

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON or 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga ON 

Hours of work: 35 hours per week

We are seeking a Manager, Internal Investigations to lead a critical function that helps ensure Peel remains a respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplace. This role is ideal for an experienced investigations leader who brings sound judgment, compassion, and credibility to complex matters—and who believes that fairness, dignity, and integrity are foundational to employee experience.

Your Impact

As Manager, Internal Investigations, you will oversee and conduct impartial, timely, and trauma‑informed investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, bullying, retaliation, and other breaches of Peel’s Respect in the Workplace policy.

 

You will provide expert guidance and trusted advice to leaders, partner closely with HR and Legal, and lead a small team of specialized investigators—ensuring investigations are legally sound, ethically grounded, and handled with professionalism and care.

What You’ll Do

Investigation Leadership

  • Manage and conduct complex, sensitive workplace investigations with fairness, objectivity, and confidentiality.
  • Develop and execute investigation plans, including interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses; gathering and assessing documentary and electronic evidence; and documenting findings.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted in a trauma‑informed, respectful manner that minimizes further harm.
  • Manage external investigators and vendors as required.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential investigation records and provide appropriate progress updates to stakeholders.

Policy, Compliance, and Education

  • Interpret and consistently apply Peel’s Respect in the Workplace policy, human rights legislation, and employment law.
  • Stay current on legislative changes, case law, and best practices related to workplace investigations.
  • Recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and tools to enhance effectiveness and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training for employees and leaders on workplace respect, investigation processes, and prevention.

Reporting, Advice, and Prevention

  • Prepare clear, thorough investigation reports that analyze evidence and provide balanced, defensible recommendations.
  • Present findings and advice to senior leaders with credibility and discretion.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify trends and systemic issues and recommend proactive, organization‑wide solutions to strengthen workplace culture.

Collaboration and Culture

  • Collaborate with HR colleagues, Legal Services, leadership teams, and union representatives.
  • Coach and support leaders in addressing and preventing workplace respect issues.

  • Contribute to a culture where employees feel safe to raise concerns and confident in fair outcomes.

What You Will Bring

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience conducting complex workplace investigations. Combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, human rights legislation, and investigation best practices.
  • Certification in workplace investigations (e.g., AWI) is an asset.
  • A satisfactory Level 2 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted).

A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve.
