Join Peel Region’s Seniors’ Oral Health team as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and play a key role in improving access to oral health services for low-income seniors through the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP).

As a valued team member, you’ll collaborate with dental professionals, administrative support teams, and support program delivery through various client centered approaches.

Your Impact

• Facilitate access to care – guide residents through public oral health programs with empathy and professionalism
• Triage for urgent and emergency dental needs – assess residents who are in need of urgent dental care within the scope of a Level II CDA, ensuring high standards of client care, facilitate appropriate and timely access to OSDCP services.
• Collaborate and coordinate – work closely with the oral health team and community partners to support case management and client navigation
• Engage and educate – respond to public inquiries, provide oral hygiene and care education, and promote awareness of the OSDCP and other dental programs in the community, while respecting the diverse needs of Peel’s population
• Contribute to program success – maintain accurate client records, complete administrative duties, and perform data entry into OHISS and other health databases

What the Role Requires:

Education & Experience

• Level II Certified Dental Assistant in good standing with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association
• CPR Certification (current and valid)
• Minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical dental experience (or equivalent)
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
• Possess a valid ‘G’ driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle
• Experience working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
• Knowledge and competence in infection prevention and control
• Familiarity with Ontario Dental Association procedure codes and dental documentation practices

 Skills & Abilities

• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a client-first mindset
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing work environments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry
• Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a team-based setting
• Understanding and respect for cultural, linguistic, and social diversity

 Nice to Have

• Experience with the Oral Health Information and Support System (OHISS)
• Multilingual abilities to better serve diverse communities
• Knowledge of or experience in a public health setting
• Ability to upgrade to a D class driver’s license

Work Mode & Travel Requirement: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time. 

This is a hybrid role that requires travel to various community settings across Peel Region based on operational needs. You’ll be actively involved in face-to-face care and community outreach.
