Who we are: The EYCCS Division is responsible for the local planning, funding and oversight of licensed child care services and EarlyON programs in Peel. Through collaboration and advocacy efforts with internal and external partners, we work together to achieve our goals. Our team plays a critical role in shaping the future of Peel's early years and child care system. Through policy development, funding stewardship, system planning, and strategic partnerships, we support an affordable, inclusive, accessible, and high-quality child care sector that serves children and families across Peel.
Reporting to the Advisor, Early Years & Child Care Services, the Specialist will lead complex policy, funding, and strategic initiatives that directly influence the child care sector. As a key member of the team, you will provide expertise on child care funding policies and programs, including the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system and before and after school system. The successful candidate will contribute to initiatives that support affordability, accessibility, workforce stability, and long-term sector sustainability. Working collaboratively with the child care sector, provincial, and community partners, you will help drive policy innovation, funding modernization, and system improvements that make a meaningful difference for children, families, child care workforce and service providers across Peel. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced policy professional who enjoys leading high-impact projects, influencing sector change, and translating complex issues into practical solutions.

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
