Job Description

Assistant Technical

Public Works - Waste Management

Casual

Reporting to the Supervisor of Waste Collections, staff will be responsible for general administrative duties, statistical tracking and reporting, recording keeping and waste collection dispatch position duties as required.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Drafting correspondence to residents, contractors and other internal/external clients including response to complaints, notifications and follow up to waste collection issues
  • Records and writes Waste Collection staff meeting minutes when required
  • Compiling and summarizing the Contractors’ daily report for times off the road and average vehicle usage
  • Providing backup support to Waste Collection’s team to update liquidated damages daily to reflect contractor late off-the-road times including streets missed for collection for all lines of business
  • Assists in data maintenance in address database, including updating locations’ waste collection information
  • Updates documentation of incident details in work orders and/or creates new work orders as required by Waste Management staff and the Region’s contractors
  • Uploads and attaches pertinent waste collection issue documents and photographs to work orders to ensure comprehensive documentation
  • Providing backup support to Waste Collection’s team using GPS to authenticate collection-related information

 Qualifications:

 

  • Successful completion of a degree/diploma in a Statistical, or Business discipline combined with a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Superior client service skills with polished customer service experience
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy to deal with the public, contractors and staff
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) and Salesforce database
  • Strong organizational and time management skills  
  • Detail oriented with ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Location: One (1) casual position, 7795 Torbram Road, Brampton (PIWM Facility)

Hours of Work: 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday to Friday
