Job Description

Project Manager

Public Works – Water

Contract, Full Time – Duration: 13 Months

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, Distribution Capital you will manage a number of Regional projects that support the design, construction, expansion and improvement of the watermain transmission and distribution systems in the Region of Peel

 

Responsibilities:

  • Request and obtain all approvals prepare tender requests for proposals, define the scope of work, terms of reference and develop and evaluate tender documentation  
  • Coordinate and control project budgets, negotiate changes in scope and monitor to maintain the quality and schedule of the project details
  • Liase with the public, municipal and provincial agencies
  • Manage project teams that include contractors, staff, plant operators and consultants prepare CPMM documentation and reports as required
  • Provide assistance and recommendations for the development of the annual Capital Budget
  • Make recommendations to improve current practices

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, a Certified Engineering Technologist diploma or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure including watermain transmission and distribution systems and/or sanitary sewer or an equivalent combination of education or experience
  • Thorough knowledge of design standards, related codes, regulations, safety acts, tendering/contract process and contract administration
  • Strong negotiating, planning, scheduling and project management skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and public relation skills
  • Demonstrated financial skills to make cost estimates to control budgets and expenditure
  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Professional Engineering Designation and are members of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON

Hours of Work: 830am – 430pm, CWW in effect
