Job Description

Specialist, Culture and Inclusion

Contract Duration: Approximately twenty four (24) months

Corporate Services - Culture and Inclusion Office

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and ongoing management of Culture and Inclusion initiatives
  • Provide specialized operational and program support, research, writing, briefing, critical analysis and coordinating capabilities for key initiatives to support the Office of Culture and Inclusion
  • Monitor, analyze and report on operational and capital budget usage and variances
  • Initiate, support and monitor the procurement process for external vendors required in the execution of program / project deliverables, including, drafting requests for proposal / quotes / information, and monitoring contracts and payments
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Lead and coordinate operational and program support projects to achieve corporate objectives
  • Participate as an active member on project teams as required
  • Manage and develop web content and knowledge base for the Office of Culture and Inclusion
  • Prepare reports (including council reports), various types of correspondence, materials, documents and speaking notes / presentations for senior management, internal and external stakeholders
  • Create various types of correspondence which involve a high degree of skill in MS Office products, MS Project and Web publishing software
  • Plans, develops and executes communication activities in collaboration with designated internal partners and other section staff
  • Works collaboratively with team members and other section staff to brainstorm ideas, seek feedback, share experiences and information
  • Recommends ways to increase the effectiveness of policies, standards, guidelines and processes that support the Regional Values
  • Advance Peel’s reputation through a commitment to inclusion, innovation, community development and engagement

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Public Administration, Finance, Business Administration or related filed plus further specialization in strategic planning, change management and project/portfolio management
  • 3 – 5 years in program support
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using project management principles (project management certification is an asset)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using change management principles (change management certification is an asset)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in facilitating staff sessions
  • Well-developed skills in research and data analysis
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners to achieve objectives
  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborative relationships with internal and external contacts to achieve program and project objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior management, other departments, staff and stakeholders
  • Results oriented
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities in a changing environment
  • Ability to work independently and have a strong business sense in order to meet the expectations of the position
  • Advanced administrative skills and computer skills including all Microsoft applications, web publishing and internal financial applications
  • Political acuity to be able to navigate and lead effectively
  • Committed customer service focus
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills 
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and deliver projects on time in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent ability to obtain information and details needed for understanding a project/issue

 

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite A, Brampton Ontario 

Hours of work: 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday
