Production Specialist

Corporate Services -  Marketing and Communications

Responsibilities:

 

Reporting to the Design and Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for co-ordinating the production of print collateral and promotional items for all Regional departments and supports the Design and Digital teams in the development of digital/mobile graphics.

  • Collaborating across various teams to develop creative and effective multi-channel marketing solutions
  • Sourcing innovative production techniques and materials; managing vendor relations to procure quality, cost-effective products and services
  • Managing the division’s purchasing responsibilities including soliciting quotations and estimates for goods and services
  • Working with the Region’s Purchasing division to ensure by-laws and procedures are followed
  • Developing new, and revising existing artwork to specifications
  • Assisting in the storage and management of digital assets
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through quality control and timely delivery of final products
  • Working collaboratively with members of the Design and Digital teams, Communications staff, clients, and vendors to negotiate costs and timelines, manage expectations, and solve problems to ensure marketing materials are produced accurately, cost-effectively, and on time
  • Providing consultation and advice to other section staff and clients in selecting options and specifications for final production of print and digital collateral

 

Qualifications:

  • College diploma/certificate in Graphic Design, Print Production or a related field combined with a minimum of three (3) years of print production or graphic design experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education 
  • Understanding and experience in layout, colour theory and typography
  • Excellent knowledge of the print production process
  • Solid working knowledge of Macintosh computers and operating systems
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Acrobat Pro
  • Working knowledge of Quark Xpress, Filemaker Pro and FTP software are assets
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Outlook
  • Purchasing experience in a print production environment is an asset
  • Experience developing graphics for digital/mobile experiences is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent project co-ordination skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively and effectively with others
  • Excellent communication skills in order to work with internal staff, external clients and vendors
  • Ability to travel within the Region of Peel 

Compensation:  Band 6 - as per Non-Union Salary Structure, plus comprehensive benefits

Location: 10 Peel Centre Dr, Suite B Brampton 

Hours of work: 35 hours/week Monday to Friday; Flexibility to travel to local vendors or events and work evening and/or weekends on occasion
