Project Development Specialist, Construction

Corporate Services, Real Property Asset Management

Real Property Asset Management (RPAM) supports the organization with the management of Region owned and leased properties. They provide professional management and care of the Region of Peel's properties and buildings to ensure programs have the appropriate facilities to support their activities in a safe and secure manner.

Do you have experience leading or supporting construction management projects in the context of project management?


We are looking for an experienced & knowledgeable Project Development Specialist with a technical background to lead projects guided by the Project Manager on various initiatives throughout the Region of Peel.


You will utilize effective communication & interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to achieve the desired outcomes of the project. You will be working within a team of project managers, property/facility managers, design professionals, as well as outside contractors and consultants to assist with managing the implementation of capital projects at various locations within the Region of Peel. 



  • Assist with client requirement coordination, purchasing procurement process management and construction planning
  • Assist in the review of design drawings and specifications at various stages and consolidate comments from all stakeholders
  • Assist in budget and cost control
  • Preparation of design and construction meeting minutes
  • Preparing, monitoring, and updating project schedules
  • Assisting with change order management 
  • Coordinating draft contracts and agreements related to various service providers
  • Assisting with various contract management responsibilities
  • Inspections and site visits during construction and warranty periods
  • Preparation of closeout documents for completed projects
  • Assisting in preparation of Project Management Methodology documents  
  • Support project management and process improvements
  • Assist with additional project and/or corporate related tasks


  • University degree or technical qualifications in Mechanical engineering,  combined with a minimum of five years relevant experience in the implementation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and building retrofits for commercial & residential properties
  • Working knowledge of project development, contract administration and project management practices (including CPMM)
  • Familiarity with municipal planning, and land development practices
  • General understanding of design and construction standards
  • General knowledge of relevant legislation including Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Construction Lien Act and ASHRAE standards
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials, MS Office including MS Project , Excel and EIM
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team 
  • Class G driver’s license with daily access to a reliable vehicle required for travel between Region of Peel sites

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
Hours of work: – 8:30am to 4:30pm; Monday through Friday
