    Job Description

    Project Manager - Service Redesign (Community Hub)

    Contract Full Time – Approximately three (3) years 

    Health Services - Senior Services Division


    Interested in leading the development of a community hub?  The Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor project is responsible for redeveloping the existing Peel Manor Long Term Care (LTC) centre into a new vibrant community hub including a long term care centre and a large adult day program. This is a time limited project that began in January 2015 and is expected to end in late 2021.


    We need an experienced staff person to serve as the project manager for the hub portion of the project.  This person will also work closely with the Director to support other Senior Services Development divisional work.  The successful candidate will have:

    • Expertise in community support services
    • Exceptional skill in building and sustaining community partnerships and stakeholder relations
    • Strong community engagement skills
    • Strong skills in program planning, development, implementation and evaluation
    • Solid project management experience

    Community hubs are a fairly new concept and in many ways this is new ground that has to be developed with very little existing best practices.  This is an opportunity to work in untested ground and forge the way for other Regional hub initiatives.


    Overview of the role: 


    This position will support the successful delivery of the Seniors Health and Wellness Village project through leading community hub specific work packages.  This will include the planning, research, development, implementation and evaluation of specific solutions to ensure work package success.  It should be noted that community hubs are a fairly new concept and in many ways this is new ground that has to be developed with very little existing best practices.



    • Utilize knowledge of community services, program development and community engagement to lead  the project
    • Provide professional advice based on their detailed experience in community program development
    • Actively manage all phases of the project, delivering defined and assigned work packages and providing overall support to the Program Development Lead and Director
    • Work collaboratively with other team members and will be responsible to manage both internal and external resources and be accountable to ensure work products meet the requirements of the project
    • Translates strategy into actions and is responsible to deliver products as assigned and within acceptable parameters of quality, cost and time
    • The project manager will coordinate all planning activities, providing the required input and expertise to plan and estimate tasks and to define products
    • Analyze and synthesize data and conduct research; literary reviews, internet searches, performance data and site visits
    • Responsible for a variety of communications with a diverse group of external stakeholders; meeting with community partners/agencies, facilitating partnership discussions, leading requirements gathering workshops, completing monthly project reporting and produce reports and presentations for a wide variety of audiences
    • Responsible for the engagement activities for hub stakeholders; ensure clients, residents and local neighbours are actively involved in the hub development and implementation
    • Work with partner agencies to ensure plans are aligned, communications are effective and agreements are signed



    • Strong skills in community program development with more than 5 years experience working in the health, human services or other related fields
    • A degree in the field of Health, Human Services or Business. Specialty knowledge of project management and/or program development is desirable
    • Ability to manage large complex projects
    • Skills in organizing resources, establishing and managing priorities in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
    • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities in a very dynamic and changing environment.
    • Ability to develop project budgets
    • Excellent facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
    • Proficiency in all MS Office applications. (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with and motivate multi-disciplinary teams and to work with senior management, other departments and staff
    • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
    • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build a collaborative environment
    • Ability to influence and negotiate without formal authority

    Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

    Hours of work: 35 hours a week; Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
