    The Strategic Policy and Performance Division is looking for an innovative thinker with demonstrated analytical experience, to work in collaboration with leadership teams across Health Services as well as the Corporation.

     

    Three main priority areas of focus in this Division are: Excellence, Leadership & Service. 

    • Excellence in the role and the work completed in terms of quality and complexity. 
    • Leadership in determining where to make a difference and how to move forward strategically. 
    • Service in relation to clients by collaboratively planning and delivering expert project support. 

    The Manager of Health Analytics plays an integral role in supporting the Health Leadership Team in achieving their objectives and supports all Health Services’ programs.  This role is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of health analytics and informatics programs and services in support of client groups and broader health system initiatives. 

     

    What you will be accountable for…

    • Plan, develop and implement section, program and departmental initiatives related to the generation of new knowledge and insights that can be applied to operational and strategic problem solving and decision making
    • Provide specialized advice and expertise in data analytics, health informatics, geospatial analysis, structured and unstructured data mining and health system intelligence to advance Health Service’s reputation as a leader in the Region and health sector
    • As part of the Strategic Policy and Performance leadership team, liaise with the Commissioner, Health Leadership Team and Department divisions - Long Term Care, Paramedic Services, Senior Services Development and Public Health - to assess client priorities, understand strategic alignment of analytics and informatics and design work to maximize impact and value to the Department
    • Advance the design and delivery of a Health Services Advanced Analytics strategy in collaboration with departmental colleagues
    • Develop deeply specialized health analytics and informatics capacity for all Health Services program areas
    • Manage portfolio of projects including project team assignment, scoping, establishing deadlines and determining program and service priorities in consultation with divisional leadership team
    • Provide project management leadership and measure the success of the programs and services delivered
    • Manage section staff including recruitment, coaching, motivation, training and evaluation, including successful execution of the Region’s Performance Management Program
    • Support the Director in planning and staffing decisions and achievement of Divisional goals in collaboration with Manager colleagues within the Division
    • In consultation with the divisional leadership team, develop, recommend and administer the budget for the section
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal partners and stakeholders and provide representation for Health Services for corporate initiatives impacting Health Analytics mandate or projects
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key health sector partners (e.g. Local Health Integration Networks, municipal and provincial peers and partners, healthcare delivery partners, academic institutions, etc.) in order to identify opportunities to collaborate, share best practices and advance learning
    • Establish and maintain policies, standards and best practices while monitoring emerging industry trends and adjusting policies, standards and best practices accordingly for all program and service responsibilities and champion change at the department level
    • Communicate program strategies and objectives for the Health Services Health Analytics program as requested to members of Regional Council, senior management and program staff at all levels

    Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree in the field of Science, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or other quantitative specialty
    • Post graduate degree in the field of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Informatics or Healthcare, Business or Public Sector Administration, or other related field
    • Seven years health care sector experience in an analytical/business intelligence environment in a  people management role
    • Five or more years in a consulting role would be considered an asset
    • Knowledge of health sector trends related to technology, policy, provincial mandates and priorities and the future direction of health service delivery in Ontario
    • Experience managing in a highly accountable environment with knowledge of key productivity metrics and resource management tools and strategies
    • Demonstrated record of collaborative leadership and ability to effectively partner on complex, multi-stakeholder projects
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to deliver technical and complex messages to a variety of stakeholders
    • Excellent negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills capable of understanding client and health system requirements and providing innovative analytics and informatics solutions
    • Familiar with budgeting and budget management, business planning, purchasing of goods and services, contract management, financial reporting and analysis, preferably in the public sector context
    • Aware of best practices in the area of analytics and informatics 

    Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga
    Hours of work: 35 hours per week; Monday-Friday
