    Customer Service Representative -Special Events 

    Public Works- Waste Management

    Contract Full Time- Approximately Nine (9) Months


    Working with the Waste Collections  and Waste Planning teams, the CSR will be working on the Excess Recycling and Contamination Pilot Study and will be responsible for investigating the option of providing residents with larger or extra recycling carts for additional recycling storage capacity, reducing curbside contamination and assisting residents in person by addressing correct curbside set-out times, days, types of containers and acceptable materials. 


    This position assists with the implementation of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Waste Collection Reporting System and with the implementation of the Recycle Right campaign to educate property management and owners, facility superintendents and residents on proper recycling practices by providing promotional and educational materials and conducting on-site lobby displays at all multi-residential locations across the Region.


    Major Responsibilities:

    • Process requests for special events waste collection, schedule container drop off and pick up and educate special event coordinators of the requirements of the Region’s special events waste collection program
    • Facilitate special events waste collection  for the cities of Mississauga, Brampton and the Town of Caledon by liaising with municipal  and Region waste collection staff to ensure that policies, guidelines and service standards are upheld
    • Assist in meeting peak season demands by  providing on-road support for the implementation of the RFID Waste Collection Reporting System
    • Educates and engages property managers/owners, facility superintendents and residents at multi-residential and institutional locations on the Region’s waste management programs and services
    • Engage special events coordinators and special events staff  to provide information on proper sorting and set out procedures
    • Educates and engage residents about waste management issues and help promote the Region’s various waste minimization programs, specifically the Recycle Right campaign program
    • Monitors and reports on special events waste collection data to ensure consistency and assist in the resolution of service deficiencies involving contractors and vendors
    • Coordinates the delivery of promotional materials, special events containers, schedules and conduct promotion, education and outreach activities at special events
    • Documents and reports all related service delivery problems and complaints related to special events waste collection program
    • Prepares related memos, updates and reports
    • Performs daily tasks and other duties as assigned


    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Excellent customer service, administrative, organization and time management skills
    • Knowledge of general waste management operations and terminology
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise internal and external clients
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Word and Access
    • Ability to work independently or as part of team
    • Must possess a valid class “G” driver’s license
    • Must provide own CSA approved safety footwear 

    Location: Peel Integrated Waste Management Facility, 7795 Torbram Road, Brampton. Travel within the Region of Peel will be required.

    Hours of work: 35 hours per week/ 7:00am to 2:30pm
