    We have a variety of different work shifts that are appealing to those looking for part-time work  We are looking for candidates who are available to work a variety of the following shifts along with every other weekend and holidays.

     

    Adult Day Support Worker (Part-time)

    Vera Davis Centre LTC (Bolton, Ontario)

    Health Services – Long Term Care

     

    Reporting to the Adult Day and Community Services Supervisor (or designate) the Adult Day Support Worker will be responsible for the provision of personal care to clients while attending the Adult Day Service.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs all duties under the direction of the Supervisor, Adult Day and Community
    • Services, and in accordance with the Code of Conduct, and the Regional Values of a Supportive and Respectful Environment, Teamwork, Effective Communication, Integrity and Quality Service
    • Provides a variety of services to meet individual needs. For example, assists clients with personal care and activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, grooming, dressing, mouth care, nail cleaning/filing, ambulation, and transferring according to the client’s personalized care plan guide.
      Provides assistance with client medication(s), as required
    • Serves meals in accordance with policy and is responsible for assisting with meals, while monitoring for consumption by clients
    • Monitors the basic health needs of clients. Reports any unusual concerns to the Supervisor, Adult Day and Community Services or in case of an emergency to the in charge Registered Nurse (RN) in long term care, for immediate attention or calling emergency services 9-1-1
    • Monitors clients who are at risk of wandering according to the client’s care plan and the operational needs of the program
    • Prioritizes their own work routines and makes changes as required, seeks input from the Supervisor, Adult Day and Community Services as needed.
      Is accountable for the ongoing and correct usage and maintenance of equipment and supplies for the provision of personal care to ADS clients.
      Provides guidance to volunteers and placement students, and assists in the orientation of new ADS staff, as directed
    • Assists in creating an environment of comfort and security for clients
    • Attends in-service education sessions, staff meetings, workshops, etc., as directed by the Supervisor, Adult Day and Community Services and participates on committees as required
    • Participates in all aspects of the Continuous Quality Improvement program for the ADS to evaluate and seek opportunities to improve client programs and services
    • Maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with the policies and procedures and legislated standards of Community Support Services (CSS)
    • Reports health and safety hazards, actively participates in eliminating causes of accidents, and performs emergency and occupational health and safety measures as required (WHMIS, Infection Control, Fire)
    • Follows the policies and procedures as outlined for CSS
    • Contributes to the development of a personalized plan of care for each client. 17. Is able to solve problems, using a variety of strategies
    • Responsible to carry out job duties in a safe and healthy manner
    • Fulfill additional work-related duties as assigned by the employer

    Qualifications:

    • Personal Support Worker Certificate, graduation from a program whose curriculum has been approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities is required
    • Previous experience of at least one (1) year in a community setting or an Adult Day Service or Long Term Care setting is preferred
    • Must have and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid Certification
    • The Food Handler Training is required
    • Pharmacology Certification is required
    • Computer skills are required as well as other technological tools to perform routine duties
    • Must be able to adapt his or her current skills and knowledge to new situations
    • Effective oral and written communication skills in English, and a good understanding of customer service concepts
    • Must be able to communicate appropriately with the clients, staff, visitors, volunteers and medical professionals
    • Must be able to work well with others in a team setting.

     

    Location: 80 Allan Drive, Bolton (Vera Davis Centre, LTC)

    Hours of Work: Monday to Sunday, various Part-Time shifts between the hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm.
