    Payroll Coordinator

    Corporate Services - Human Resources 

    Contract Duration - Approximately 6 months


    Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the processing of biweekly payroll administration on a weekly basis. Other duties include biweekly and monthly reporting and remittances.


    Major Responsibilities:

    • Enter/update all bank changes, CRA Tax forms (TD1 and TD1ON) and general deductions from new and existing employees.
    • Calculate retro payments for rate changes/transfers/new hires, etc...
    • Updates the paylines for The Region of Peel.
    • Enter statutory holiday entitlement on the paylines.
    • Analyze and enter sick time on the paylines (for the non-union sick leave plan and union sick leave request for leaves.
    • Verify the interface process populates the paylines with the correct interface file.
    • Handle general Payroll inquiries regarding pay.
    • Edit and submit all web ROEs for The Region of Peel.
    • Completes and submit all Service Canada earnings verification requests as well as Revenue Canada address and employment verification requests.
    • Prepares all payments made through Accounts Payable such as Union Dues, Family Responsibility payments, Garnishees, Brampton Parks and Recreation, IC Traders Insurance, EHT Tax remittance and United Way.
    • Create and edit off-cycles as requested.
    • Prepare annual vacation entitlement for Public Works CUPE 966.
    • Other paylines entries include but not limited to:
      • Enter regular benefit arrears overrides as well as the quarterly benefit overrides on the paylines.
      • Mass retro payments on the paylines such as retro from a collective agreement settlement, band minimum adjustments, annual vacation payouts, cleaning and clothing allowances
      • ETR and CAR overrides


    • High school diploma, with post-secondary education in accounting, public administration or business administration
    • At least 3 years payroll experience
    • Knowledge of CRA tax regulations, pertaining to payroll
    • Knowledge of HRMS PeopleSoft, OMERS administrations and Employment Standards Act, an asset
    • Familiarity of the Region’s policy pertaining to Payroll and Benefits
    • Excellent math, keyboarding and Excel skills
    • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in fast paced, pressure environment and flexibility to work additional hours as required

    Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm 
    Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
